You are now entitled for a Medicare rebate of $93.35 in your face to face and online psychology sessions under the “Better access to mental health initiative” for up to 10 sessions per calendar year with a referral from your GP and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Fees are charged well below the APS recommended rates of $300 per 50min consult. Gap payments, meaning the out-of-pocket expenses after Medicare rebates have been adjusted to remain as affordable as possible. Patients on a mental health care plan are able to claim a rebate as outlined above up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Private health fund rebates may also apply, and encourage individuals to speak with their healthcare providers.
